Cheer Tryouts

Kendall recently got her tuck. It needs to be polished, but it's consistent. She's also working on her aerial. Because of that, Kendall tried out for a level 3-4 traveling team.
Meanwhile, Alexis tried out for Prep in a level 1-2. She was very excited to try out with her friend Kelsie.

About 2 weeks after tryouts, we found out that Alexis made Prep 1.1. Silver Sass. She was excited.
Kendall, however, made a Level 2 team. Black Magic. She was heartbroken. She'd worked so hard to perfect her level 3 skills in order to be on Fierce. I met with Coach Neitzel who reassured me that they see Kendall, that they've noticed how hard she's worked, but that each team needs more than tumblers. They need girls who can fly. They need girls who can base. And they need strong tumblers. The National Cheer Association recently changed their requirements for all the levels, and although Kendall has the old level 3 skills, she simply doesn't have the new level 3 skills. She said they'd observe her about possibly crossing over and being on both teams, but for now she's on the level 2 team (with some 2nd graders, might I add). I asked Kendall if she wanted to try out somewhere else, but I think whatever Coach Neitzel told her put her at ease, at least enough for her to want to stay with Legacy this year.
