January Happenings

I added 2 piercings to my left helix. I used to have one when I was 18, but it closed up.

William and I have been going on a ton of mini dates.
Usually we grab lunch together, but sometimes we go shooting.

The weather has been chilly in the mornings, but perfect in the
afternoons, so we've been riding our bikes and scooters a lot.

We got Alexis a cute leo for a photoshoot.

Kendall likes to take my phone and take sad pictures. Instead of keeping 300 pictures, I make collages.

5th grade went to Biztown, a place where children practice having job, getting insurance, paying personnel, etc. I volunteer and it was pretty cool. Of course Kendall hated it.

Alexis has been doing a really good job at dance. She'd still
rather cheer, but she's the cutest little dancer.

Gucci is officially ours. Nixon was a little sad, but Kendall has actually been taking really good care of her. She's very sweet to her. And, honestly, I'm not mad about having her around. She's pretty cute.

And a little crazy.

And she likes to cuddle up close.

For Activity Days, we had an inflatables race, with Valentine's Day candy, and it was HILARIOUS!

Athletic Championship Cheer Competition (#2)

Competition #2, and Starstruck hit zero on both days! This time they were competing against one other team, and they won! They got some pins, a medal, and a blanket.
Also, on both days, Kendall and her friends went over to Caly's house to hang out. I love that she has great friends on her team.

At the practice following the competition, the girls found out that they got invited to the D2 Summit in Orlando, Florida. It was a huge deal! Go, Starstruck!

All Star Challenge Cheer Competition (#1)

Competition season has officially started! And this year, Kendall is on the All-Star team, which means, more competitions and traveling.
This weekend, the competition lasted 2 days and was at the Phoenix Convention Center, nice and easy. Starstruck competed against 7 teams. On day 1, the girls hit zero. On day 2, they didn't. One of the pyramids failed to go up, and Kendall got kicked in the hand, which caused her to fall on her butt. Still, at the end of the competition, we learned that the girls got 4th place. I am so proud of Kendall and how hard she's worked this season.

Positive

We started the year off with a Bang! Kendall started getting a cough on a Friday. That Monday, I tested her for Covid, and it was negative. Then Sunday, the boys went to the pharmacy to get their first dose of the Covid vaccine. That Tuesday night, Kendall told me that she couldn't smell. I thought for sure she was messing with me. But that night, I could not sleep. I kept thinking about all the crap I'd have to deal with if she was positive for Covid. In the morning, before anyone else was up, I had Kendall smell a few things, which she couldn't smell, so I tested her again. Within 3 minutes, I could tell that it was positive. So I called Haley Elementary and told them that Kendall was sick and that we would be keeping all the other kids home to quarantine, even though no one else had any symptoms.
The school nurse called me an hour later, saying that the CDC had changed their guidelines and that kids only had to quarantine for 5 days, after which they could return to school with a mask for 5 more days. So technically, all the kids could go back to school that day. And none of the kids in Kendall's class would have to quarantine; they'd only have to wear a mask to school.
Taylor and Logan didn't want to miss any school, so I sent them back the next day. Taylor always wears a mask to school, anyway, so it wasn't a big deal, but I sent Logan without one, and the nurse called him into her office and gave him one to wear until the end of the week.
Alexis and Kendall didn't want to wear a mask to school, so I kept them home. I felt better about keeping Kendall home a little bit longer anyway. But I probably should have sent Alexis back to school. She missed her 100 days of school celebration, which is a pretty big deal!
