So, no, I did not keep the kids up past midnight. I don't have that kind of energy- not for that night and not for the following day. I did try to make it fun night, though. We were blessed enough to have daddy home for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. So we started off the festivities by going to Magic Mountain. Then we came home and had a silly string fight. It was cold and Kendall was not having it, but the boys had a blast, for the whole 3 minutes that it took each of us to finish off our bottles. Then, we went back in and made Café Rio salads for dinner. We had Lemon Meringue Pie for dessert. And then we turned off all the lights in the house, turned on the black light in the living room, and gave everyone a couple of glow sticks. And we ran around the house, chasing one another. It was a blast! I want to do this every year. Maybe even every month. Or every week.
It was a good thing I hadn't planned on keeping the kids up because I got a call from my good friend, Rachelle, while we were eating. As it turned out, she was in labor, and about to have a baby. So we put the kids to bed, and I headed over to her house to watch her kids while she and her husband were at the hospital. I was there from 8:30 PM to 3:00 AM. So yeah, my 2015 kiss came from their dog, Hurley. Haha. Happy New Year!
