Crafting through October

Ok, so this 1st picture doesn't have to anything to do with crafting, but it was just too funny not to post. The kids got these sugar tubes at the Cypress Fall Festival. 

Craft #1: Drawing faces on the pumpkin (dry-erase)

Craft #2: Decorate the tree (with Q-tips dipped in paint)

Craft #3: Play bingo (my craft, not theirs, because I made it up)

Craft #4: Tissue paper and mason jars Jack-o-lanterns (or old spaghetti sauce jars, in our case)

Craft #5: Halloween stickers

Craft #6: Spider web

Craft #7: Wooden haunted house (We went to Lowe's for that, but it counts, right? The kids made them! )

Craft #8: Scarecrows

Craft #9: Blow paint monsters

Craft #10: Potato pumpkins stamps

Craft #11: Leaf prints

Craft #12: Decorate pumpkins

Fall traditions #9 and #10: attend a fall festival and play in leaves

Cypress had a fall festival, so it was the perfect opportunity to cross one more item off of our fall bucket list. The kids had a blast playing games and seeing their friends and teachers.

We also went to the mall to play some games and the kids got to chop a board. It was really cool. Later that day, William chopped those boards into even smaller pieces... until they got too small and he hurt his hand chopping a board. It was actually really funny, and it was caught on camera.

I racked the leaves, with some help from the kiddos, after which we played in them for a little while. And Logan discovered the art of "photobombing." (Although it's Taylor that is photobombing Kendall and I in the picture below-- I ended up deleting the pictures Logan photobombed because they were all blurry.) Now Logan photobombs every person that gets their picture taken, whether he knows them or not. 

Tradition #8: Trick-or-treat (and trunk-or-treat)

This year, I invited a friend from school to join on annual Trunk-or-Treat at church. And as we were talking about how sketchy our neighborhood is, she invited us to Trick-or-Treat in their neighborhood.
Our families are getting along wonderfully and becoming really good friends. Jody is amazing. She is a working mom, she is a really good christian woman, and she is bubbly, sweet, caring, easygoing, and really fun to be around. Mike enjoys golfing and fishing, just like William. And then there's the kids- it's really great that Joey is the same age as Logan and Taylor, and Amber is the same age as Kendall. All the kids play really well together. They truly are a wonderful family.

Fall tradition #7: carve pumpkins

The kids were all really into it this year, especially Logan. They got messy and they got crafty. William and I still helped, but for the most part, it was their own creations. Maybe next year, William and I will add our own pumpkins.
