How cute is she??? I know I'm totally biased, but she is the prettiest baby I have ever seen! Like, I just want to give her everything... and I do. Just say please with that smile, and you've got it, baby girl!
The 1 year pictures turned out great, but there's a story that went with that. We had to have 3 photos sessions to get those pictures because Little Miss Alexis did not want to let go of me. I ended up in a lot of those pictures (and I wasn't photo ready, at least the 1st time). Alexis just did not want to comply. But this year... dang, girl! She worked that camera! "Hey, look at me! Look how cute I look!" I was more than pleased with the pictures. So much so, that I don't even know which one to blow up. I want them all on the wall.
Now a little bit about Alexis. Alexis is a very sweet girl. She has a very tender heart and loves everyone. If she sees someone sad, she's the first to check on them and hug/kiss/touch them. Someone she even hugs and kisses other kids out of the blues. Most of the time, they're so caught off guard that they freeze, not knowing how to respond. I love it the most when she does that to her siblings. She loves them so much! But she's a bit feisty, too. If someone takes something from her, she's not going to sit there and cry about it. Oh, no. She's gonna give that person a piece of her mind. Most of them time, I'm not sure what she's yelling, but she scares them enough that they back out pretty quickly.
Alexis has always communicated well, ever since she was a newborn. We always knew what she was trying to communicate to us. Now that she knows 50-60 words, communicating has become even easier. She loves to talk. She mostly communicates to us with 1 word, but sometimes she pretends to read a book or makes an attempt at saying the prayer, and then she's on a roll. It's like, "... Tayor... food... Kaykay… play... Logy... Amen!" I love it!
Alexis loves to go swimming in the pool. She loves to dance on the table to music played by Alexa. She loves to play with her cash register. She loves to take care of her dolls and is always swaddling them, hugging them, and talking to them in a very sweet, calming voice. She likes "A mouse" (Mickey Mouse), Ariel, Elsa, and Moana. She enjoys announcing to everyone that she "farted". Recently, she has been asking to use the potty and has peed and pooped in there multiple times. I am mentally not ready to take that on, but I know I'm gonna have to soon. She also loves to have races with the other kids and me in the hallway. She likes to make ice cream for me from her ice cream truck that she got for Christmas.
She naps for 3 hours, usually noon-3. At night she sleeps from 8:30-6:30. Lately, she's been wanting me to lay down next to her until she falls asleep. I have to be super sneaky when leaving her room. Her favorite books are one about bears or one about Jesus.
William and I have been nursey leaders since May, and Alexis loves that. She was having a tough time in nursery before we were called. Now, she looks forward to going there and playing. But no one can hang out on my lap for too long. Haha. Our ward has at least 20 nursey-aged kids, so they split the nursey into 2. We usually have 6-8 kids, the younger ones, with 5 more coming before the end of the year. I love it, though. I should be missing the instruction time and my time away from kids, but I kinda love it. I'm in there with William, so that's fun. And when he's working, I get my adult social time with whoever is subbing for him.
Back to Alexis... She makes me smile so much. From calling all cats "Maui" to asking for juice 10 times a day. From tickling me to asking for her siblings and daddy multiple times a day. From climbing on me just to snuggle to her contagious laugh. I love everything about her. I feel like every stage is my favorite. I keep telling her to stop growing because I love the way she is right now, but she keeps growing and I love her even more. I love that I'm able to spend most of the day with her. Just her and me. Best buddies. It's pretty chill. But after 3 o'clock, we run around like crazy people, trying to get everyone to places on time: piano, gymnastics, scouts, basketball, swim lesson, jiu jitsu, playdates, etc. She's such a good sport, though. Life as the 4th child. She just learned to go with it since she was a baby.
It's hard to believe I had given up on trying to have another baby. 2 years in the making. Then out of the blues, just when I'm about to put the IUD back in after selling all the baby stuff we owned, POOF! Pregnant! She's our miracle baby! And I love the age gap. The kids love her to death and spoil her like crazy. They'll have a special toy that they don't want to share with anyone,... but if Alexis wants it,... she gets it. They willingly will give her that toy because they love her so much they can't say No to her. She's spoiled. SO MUCH.
Happy birthday, Alexis. I want to tell you to stop growing, but I know I can't stop you. You're just going to keep growing and keep making me proud. And I'll just keep loving you more and more each day, baby girl.
