After only 2 nights of absolute misery, Billy and I decided to give sleep training a break.
1. The boys had their 6 month check up yesterday, and Taylor is not growing as well as he should. He is only in the 2.42 percentile in height and 1.44 percentile in weight. I want him to grow and fatten up, and if that means I have to feed him 4 times a night, then that's what I'll do. He needs to get some more fat rolls.
2. The first night, I was up 13 times with Logan and 10 times with Taylor. The following night I was up 5 times with Logan and 10 times with Taylor. Then I had an emotional breakdown, gave up, and fed them. The next morning, I was so exhausted and stressed out that I had a headache and nausea. Not fun.
So we're giving sleep training a break for now, and we'll try again in a couple of weeks

Looks like it could've been working.
I'm sure Taylor will catch up soon enough. No worries! He just wants to be a skinny minny like his Mommy ;-)
What a rough night! Don't you hate nights like those?! Skylie was up the other night basically from 3:30-5:30 (which was when Matt begged me to feed her since it'd been 9 hours since her last feeding)!
I haven't looked into it too much, but have you considered nursing/giving them formula at lunch time, too? Maybe they're not getting their caloric needs met during the day, so they have a rough time sleeping. A while back it seemed like Sky wasn't sleeping as long at night, so I went back to feedings every 3 to 3 1/2 hours during the day, and it really helped.
I think I've finally realized that I sometimes have too high of expectations for Skylie's sleeping. She may not sleep 12 hours straight right now, but if we can get 8-10 hours in without me feeding her, I call it good.
Good luck! You're such a good, and caring mom!
P.S. You should come to lunch group today at Karissa Young's.
OH Nathalie - what a rough couple nights & sorry about the slow weight gain! It can be stressful for sure. Especially with 2! Hopefully whatever route you go with (no cry or cry it out) works well for y'all soon!
Good luck, Nathalie! As your mom, you know what's best for them, so I commend you for going with what you feel is best. You are doing great!
Don't feel bad about putting it on hold, sometimes it is better for everyone if you just feed them and be done with it. That's the great thing about being the mom, you get to decide what YOU want to do, so don't worry about what so and so baby or mom is doing what, just go with the schedule that works for you guys. I think you are doing that anyway, but sometimes I think we all get caught up in what we think we should be doing because of what others are doing that we forget that what we are actually doing is working just fine.
hey girl i'm sorry you've been having a hard time with the babies sleeping through the night! i meant to write my advice on what i do with parker on your one post, but i forgot to so i'll tell you how we got parker to sleep through the night. he listens to the same lullaby music every night when he goes to sleep and it really helps him sleep. i've noticed if we ever change his music up on him he wakes up a lot and doesn't sleep well. so my suggestion is if you aren't already have some classical music playing for the boys at bedtime and see if that helps. also, we recently started letting parker sleep on his tummy since he can roll over. he sleeps SO MUCH better on his tummy! we have tried the cry it out approach, and it doesnt always work for him, esp if he is screaming. do you think the boys would sleep better if they are in seperate rooms? i guess you could try that to if you think they are waking each other up. anyway, good luck girl!
I am so impressed with you! I think you deserve a little break from the sleep training. I saw a preview today for "The Time Traveler's Wife." Time for a girl's night!
